LED technology enabled Explosion proof LED lighting

LED Lighting is an energy efficient lighting which is manufactured by using a semiconductor i.e. Light emitting diode (LED), highly efficient in converting electricity into light. These lights consumes more than 80% less electrical energy as compared to incandescent or halogen lighting which helps in significant saving in your electricity bills. Their estimated life span is four times more than CFL, 10 times more than halogen and 100 times more than Incandescent lights. Earlier, LED’s were used as an indicator lights for various electronic devices.

LED is a two-lead semiconductor light source with a basic p-n junction diode. LED’s anode lead has a voltage which is more positive than cathode lead. Electrons are made available to recombine with holes in the device and release energy in form of photons. The whole process is called electroluminescent, and the color of light can be determined by using energy band gap of the semiconductor.  Earlier, LED’s were used as an indicator lights for various electronic devices. LED lighting's are now vastly used in various applications like traffic signals, home lighting, aviation lighting etc.

There are various areas of applications where more secured, durable, long-lasting, non-resistant and strong lighting are required. For example, In oil and gas industry, where vapors or flammable gases may occurs. In these type of hazardous locations, we need Explosion Proof LED Lighting. These are also known as hazardous location lights and are UL certified. These type of lights are built according to their place of application. These can be customized according to the need of user.

Generally, explosion proof lighting are misunderstood in its nature and applications. If you ask someone that you require these lights and the first thing they will more likely to assume is you need a light which can’t explode. These are especially designed for dangerous, explosive areas where there is possibility of flammable, volatile gases and liquid are present. They are also highly beneficial at places which are difficult to service and is very expensive to shut down regularly.

LED enabled explosion proof lighting are highly efficient as compared to traditional lighting like incandescent, halogen, CFL etc because of use of highly effective and efficient semiconductor of p-n junction diode. These lights are generally installed at places which are not easily accessible and therefore long life lighting's are required at these places. Expected life span of explosion proof LED lighting is 30,000 to 1,00,000 hours which is far more than any lighting technology available in world.
